Wassily Kandinsky was a revolutionary Russian painter. He painted one of the first purely abstract paintings and he didn’t start painting until he was 30 years old. Eventually, Kandinsky settled in the Bavarian village of Murnau and he had a very productive period, using bright colours with dark outlines signalling the emergence of Expressionism. Painting was a poetic and spiritual experience for Kandinsky and I think it shows. His work is so varied and beautiful… he wasn’t chained to the one style or subject matter. I love his work, it’s still so refreshing ♥
PS this is the image I used a detail of in my feature image for this months #adrawingaday project 😛
