Chinese wallpaper was all the rage in the 18th century. This design is a small snippet of some wallpaper panels made in China for export to Europe. Watercolour and gouache on paper were laid on canvas. The colours are so fresh and the composition was so sweet it must have been so new and exciting in the 18th century Europe ♥
