While I would never plant Prickly pears in Australia I can still admire how beautiful their fruit is. This plant was introduced to Australia and quickly invaded farmland making it unworkable. In an early case of successful biological pest control, a moth whose larva eat the prickly pear was introduced in 1925 and controlled the spread of the plant, almost eradicating it entirely. I love the shape of their paddle leaves and their pink fruit against the blue sky. I never draw sky but I had to this time as the contrast was too pretty ♥
